Dan: I see on the cover of your book and in the pictures on your website that you wear all Bauer equipment. Do you get paid for wearing or endorsing Bauer? RC from MI

Dan Replies:
Dear RC: The answer is no and yes. I've worn Bauer skates since I was PeeWee and I like them. But I continue to wear Bauer equipment because when I first came up to the NHL, John Kirk, the Bauer representative treated me, a lowly rookie, the same as he treated the big stars. He was concerned that I had what I needed and when I needed it. I appreciated that treatment and because of that I am loyal to Mr. Kirk and Bauer.

Having said that, Bauer doesn't pay me to wear their equipment but Bauer always makes a very nice gesture of appreciation for my loyalty at Christmas time in the form of a gift catalog.

You have to be a big star to get paid to wear a certain brand of skates or use a certain stick.

Incidentally, I stopped into a proshop last summer and priced equipment. I'm grateful my gear is provided for me.
